Telemann: Trio Sonatas for Recorder

Em 1728, o compositor George Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) escreveu sobre seu trabalho como compositor. “As notas agora me procuram tão rapidamente quanto eu um dia procurei por elas.” Há na frase uma ideia de espontaneidade que com certeza se revela nos trios que escreveu para flauta doce e viola da gamba, gravados agora por um grupo de especialistas no repertório barroco liderado por um músico de exceção, Erik Bosgraaf. Nascido na Holanda, ele se formou nesse tipo de repertório na Universidade de Utrecht e desde então tem colaborado com grupos como a Orquestra Real do Concertgebouw, de Amsterdã, além de ter criado o Ensemble Cordevento, dedicado à música antiga. Seu olhar para o repertório do álbum é interessante. “Se Bach é um masterchef, então Telemann é o livro de receitas do masterchef”, disse em uma entrevista. “Bach serve os pratos prontos para consumo; Telemann, os ingredientes com o qual se deve cozinhar.” Se for para seguir em sua metáfora, então não há outra maneira além de preparar o apetite e se deliciar com a riqueza das obras e da interpretação de uma obra excepcional.

- Telemann composed for both amateurs and professionals; he had a feeling for entertainment, for music which everybody could understand, however untutored their ears. Telemann wrote in the introduction to his music periodical “Der getreue Music-Meister”

(1728) that he was sure “that the notes have by now sought me out almost as quickly as I have sought for them”. The music brims with spontaneity, one bright idea after another, the joy of composing.

- On this recording Erik Bosgraaf plays the alto recorder, voice flute and alto chalumeau, Lucile Boulanger and Robert Smith the dessus de viol and bass viol, Carl Rosman the tenor chalumeau and Alessandro Pianu the harpsichord and organ.
